Coronation parade
In 1911 a young and affluent US couple was vacationing in London. Apparently they were onlookers at the coronation parade for George V. (1865-1936). They took several photos. Unfortunately some of them are blurred. But still they give an idea of this great event.
A British reader informed us that some of the images were taken on the Mall - the ones without buildings in the background.
The coronation parade started from Buckingham Palace through Whitehall to Westminster Abbey. The Coronation occurred. Then the procession headed back to Buckingham Palace. The new King then came onto the veranda and waved and everyone cheered and then there were parties.

The mounted bands are ceremonial and were also in the 1953 Coronation.

Several photographs show special stands that were built for spectators. You can see that they were built in front of buildings. The stands would have been built by the authorities. We are unsure if the dominions contributed money to the cost of the coronation. They would have sent gifts.

The horse unit with the helmets and white tassels are the Light Horse Guards.

This stand for spectators is decorated with banners saying "Greetings to the King from the County ...".
